Part-time Accountant (3 days a week) - London/hybrid - Up to £50,000 pro rata

My client, an independent growing publishing company based in Central London, is looking to recruit a Part-time Accountant (3 days a week with hybrid working up to 3/4 days a month in the office). The business is growing and they are looking to bring Accounting in-house for the fist time. You will create an inhouse finance function, putting in place the procedures and controls you believe are needed, and bring over all data and records from the external provider to an internal finance system.

Key responsibilities:

  • Using Xero, maintain all basic bookkeeping and financial record keeping, with assistance.
  • Timely delivery of a complete monthly management accounting service and reporting pack.
  • Production of divisional profitability reports and in time
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Completion and submission of VAT, PAYE/NIC and ONS returns
  • Credit - working with the operations team, actively managing customer debts, and keeping the debtors' days to absolute minimum.
  • Accounts payable, monthly payment runs and perform reconciliations to ensure our accounts with key suppliers are kept up to date and squeaky clean at all times.
  • Bank reconciliations, weekly cash reporting and cash forecasting
  • Paying employees expenses

Key skills:

  • Previous experience with a demonstrable track record of achievement.
  • You may hold the AAT qualification or equivalent or you may be studying for the latter stages of your ACCA or CIMA qualifications.
  • Experience of working in the world of book publishing would be an advantage but not vital.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines under pressure.
  • First class organisational and analytical skills and be confident in communicating financial information.
  • An eagerness to grow with the business and the finance function.
  • Good management and leadership skills and be a committed team player.
  • Proficient Excel skills.
