Finance Analyst - 6 month FTC - London/hybrid - Up to £70,000 pro rata

My client, a facilities management company is looking to hire a highly capable and hands-on Finance Analyst to join our team on a 6-month fixed term contract. This project-based role will focus on overhauling our payroll and overhead cost processes, with the goal of delivering streamlined, transparent, and scalable financial solutions that support smarter decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Process Redesign Lead the end-to-end review and redesign of payroll operations for approx. 1,500 staff, ensuring alignment with operational workflows and creating a scalable, auditable process.
  • Payroll Cost Modelling Develop a detailed and accurate cost model that captures the full monthly payroll burden, including base wages, overtime, national insurance, pension contributions, holiday pay, agency fees, and processing charges.
  • Data Integrity & Controls Implement robust validation checks and internal controls to ensure data quality, reduce payroll errors, and enhance visibility into cost variances by site, contract, or department.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with HR, operations, and finance stakeholders to map current workflows, diagnose pain points, and propose automation and system integration opportunities.
  • Process Handover & Reporting Deliver full documentation, training materials, and a working dashboard/reporting suite that enables ongoing tracking, analysis, and reconciliation of payroll and overhead costs.
  • Overhead Cost Review Perform a detailed analysis of overhead costs, identify key cost drivers, develop allocation models as needed, and create monthly reporting tools to improve transparency and accountability across support functions.

Key skills:

  • ACA/CIMA qualified or equivalent
  • Previous audit experience would be a bonus
  • Proven experience in finance analysis, with a strong focus on payroll, cost modelling, and process improvement
  • Advanced Excel and data modelling skills; experience with payroll systems and/or finance automation tools preferred but not essential
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and translating complexity into clear, actionable outputs
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to hit the ground running in a project-based environment
