Lead Counsel - London/hybrid - Very competitive salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits

My client, a global healthcare company based in Central London, is looking to recruit a Managing Lead Counsel. You will lead the local legal team and advise the compliance team to ensure governance and controls are in place to mitigate risk. Drafts, reviews, analyses and negotiates contracts and provides guidance on contract provisions and attendant risks in accordance with applicable law, operational practices and internal policies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day legal support to the partnership's business team in London, including advising on compliance with U.K. laws.
  • Serves as the key legal advisor to senior leadership on an array of topics relating to operations and business activities.
  • Draft and prepare various contracts, amendments and standard terms and conditions for generics procurement, and provide guidance on contract standards.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and communicate with generic pharmaceutical suppliers on contract issues, proposals and disputes.
  • Identify and analyse legal and business risk and appropriately identifying required escalations.
  • Partner with Compliance organisation to monitor compliance with internal business and legal processes and policies, working with the others to operationalize internal policies and standard operating procedures.

Key skills:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum of 10 years post qualification experience.
  • Legal experience in a corporate legal department or law firm reviewing and revising complex commercial contracts.
  • Experience working in a healthcare regulatory environment, with pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • Excellent contract drafting and strong attention to detail and process.
  • Aptitude to manage simultaneous projects in an efficient and timely manner and an ability to adapt quickly to business needs and changing timelines.
