Group Financial Controller - Up to £85,000 + Bonus & Benefits - Kent/Hybrid
My client, a consultancy business based in Kent, is looking to appoint a Group Financial Controller to take responsibility for the financial control, reporting and governance of the Group and its six trading subsidiaries.
Reporting to the CEO, the role will lead the Group's financial reporting and control environment, ensuring robust processes, accurate reporting and strong financial governance across the business. Alongside core financial control responsibilities, the role will provide meaningful financial insight to the CEO and senior leadership team, helping them understand performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and returns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of Group statutory accounts, including consolidation of six trading subsidiaries.
- Own the Group's financial control framework, ensuring consistent accounting policies, processes and controls across all entities.
- Manage the year-end audit, working closely with external auditors and other professional advisers.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, company law and AIM-related reporting requirements.
- Produce accurate and insightful consolidated management accounts, KPIs and Board reporting.
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning processes.
- Monitor Group financial performance, profitability, working capital and cash generation, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Provide financial insight and constructive challenge to the CEO and senior leadership team.
- Develop reporting that provides clear visibility across the Group, including markets, brands, products and business units.
- Ensure finance systems, processes and data structures support accurate, efficient and scalable Group reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement across the Group's finance function, controls and reporting processes.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Fully qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Strong experience in a Group Financial Controller, Financial Controller or senior Group reporting role.
- Proven experience of Group consolidation and statutory reporting.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of UK GAAP and AIM/listed-company requirements.
- Experience managing external audits and professional advisers.
- Strong financial control, governance and process improvement skills.
- Ability to produce high-quality management information and Board-level reporting.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to translate financial data into clear insight and actionable recommendations.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with modern, digital finance systems.
- Experience operating within a listed, regulated or similarly well-governed environment would be advantageous.
