Assistant Accountant - Retail - Central London/hybrid working - Up to £36,000 + benefits and Study Support

Are you looking to grow your career in finance within a fast-paced retail environment? We're seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant to join our London-based team offering hybrid working. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to develop their skills, take on responsibility, and progress with professional study support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing purchase invoices and ensuring accuracy in processing
  • Handling staff expense claims and credit card statements, with correct coding and posting
  • Developing weekly pay-run schedules and overseeing accurate supplier payments
  • Reconciling bank transactions in a timely manner
  • Monitoring aged payables and receivables, supporting effective cashflow management
  • Assisting with month-end close including accruals, intercompany transactions, depreciation, and prepayments
  • Supporting the Management Accountant to ensure deadlines are consistently met

Key skills:

  • AAT/ACCA/CIMA part qualified or looking to study
  • Previous experience in a finance/accounts role (ideally within retail or a similar fast-paced environment)
  • Strong attention to detail with good organisational skills
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
  • A proactive, team-focused approach
  • Desire to study towards a recognised accounting qualification (study support provided)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
